Comment from a walker on the South Loch Ness Trail:-

I did the SLNT in September with friends. This was a sponsored charity walk over two days. I found navigation from north to south tricky in places but realised the other direction would be easier both physically and to navigate (due the lie of the land. I'd love to know the story of the Fair Haired Lads Pass

This walk has everything woodland, forest, moor, history.... Thanks for all your work.

If you want to read further about the area, the gold standard is Alan Lawson's book "A country called Stratherrick" and this can be got from the South Loch Ness Heritage Group.

30 July 2016Exciting new map

The South Loch Ness Access Group is producing an exciting new free map of the whole of South Loch Ness on one folded A2 sheet. As much of the local path network that we are aware of as well as the Trail of the 7 Lochs and the South Loch Ness Trail are marked on this beautifully drawn map by Helen Stirling plus coloured contours for easy recognition.

On the reverse side of the area map are inserts for the areas of Tomfat and Daviot Woods, Change House and Fair Haired Lad's Pass (Loch Ness), the Eskers Trail (Farr), Foyers, Farigaig Forest and Inverfarigaig, Scaniport and Dores

Sites of Archaeological and cultural interest, natural and industrial heritage, plus amenities and visitor attractions are all featured and we are very pleased with the outcome. Copies should be available very soon but it you have difficulty in obtaining one then please contact us directly and we will try to get you one.

We have had many contributors to the production of this map and would like to thank Dores and Essich Community Council,  the Dores Community Trust, BHS Highland South, South Loch Ness Tourist Group, Jacobite Cruises and Paths for All for their sponsorship of the map.

We hope you will enjoy the finished product.
